Notification permission on screen 3, before they've shown you a single thing. You haven't earned the ask yet, so a lot of people hit Don't Allow on reflex. Move it after the goals quiz and frame it by benefit ("we'll remind you to wind down before bed") to lift opt-in.

"What brings you to Calm?" is the one piece of zero-party data that matters here. If this is single-select, make it multi. People come for sleep AND anxiety, that's literally Calm's whole range. And whatever they pick should echo on the paywall. Right now they capture the goal and never use it again.

They stack the ATT prompt and signup before any value. The "more personalized experience" framing is the right copy to nudge the tracking opt-in. But asking to track and to make an account back to back, this early, is going to leak high-intent users who'd have converted if they'd felt something first.
screen 88
"Create an account to save your progress" but there's no progress yet. Signup before a single meditation costs completion. Calm can get away with it on brand strength, most apps can't. I'd test pushing account creation past the first session, once they've actually felt value.

Clean trial paywall. Yearly is defaulted with the 7-day free trial at $5.84/mo, anchored against $179.88 struck to $69.99, and monthly sits there at $14.99 as the decoy. The feature list is generic though. None of it reflects the goal I picked two screens back. Echo "Reduce Anxiety" right here and it converts harder.

This is the real move. Decline the trial and you get hit with 40% off at $41.99, no trial, just a cheaper annual. 90%+ don't buy on the first paywall, so the second offer is where the revenue actually is. Smart that it's a different price point (Apple restricts discounting the same SKU) and that dropping the trial pushes a direct commitment instead.
screen 1717
"How did you hear about Calm?" after the paywall. Good placement: it's attribution data they actually use for spend allocation, and keeping it post-paywall keeps it out of the conversion path. Single-select is fine for this one.

They drop you home with the "40% off, today only" offer pinned at the top, so the discount follows you past the paywall. Good. But the home is a wall of content with no guided first action. "Personalize Your Recommendations" should be the forced first tap to get someone into an actual meditation, the aha, before they bounce.
